A Walk in the Woods
Where Self Softens into Silence
We crave what we cannot see
Dream of all that we can be.
The whole of creation
A momentary fixation.
Life slips through our fingers
A breath that never lingers.
Unseeable wind raids my attention
Shifting leaves too many to mention.
The cosmos opens to blessed light
Shades of brown and green take flight.
Awareness increases
Wonder never ceases.
Warm bark confides its weathered lore
The soil speaks truths it held before.
A hush falls closed with measured tread
As time unknots what once it led.
My walk transforms to a spiritual glide
As I let the moment be my guide.
Each step releases need and name
Till self and silence feel the same.
Emerging desire to hold Paradise
Once called, a pearl of great price.
